INDIANAPOLIS – The Hagerstown boys basketball team got to appear on the big stage on Saturday as the Tigers played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

“This was a great experience for our team,” Hagerstown Head Coach Bobby Jones said. “We definitely got better as a team as a result of playing the number two team in the state in Class 2A Lapel.”

Making 7-of-7 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, Lapel went on to post a 56-47 victory over the Tigers.

“Our defense was pretty solid the whole game and Jared Andis shot the ball very well,” Jones said.

Andis led the Tigers with 14 points against the No. 2 Bulldogs (18-2).

“Our team bounced back after a tough loss to Northeastern last week and really did a good job of attacking on offense for 32 minutes,” Jones said.

“I am pleased with where we are headed into the last two weeks of the regular season,” Jones continued. “Our schedule is definitely preparing us for the sectional.”

Isaiah Neal added 10 points for the Tigers, while Jalen Oliver tossed in nine. Bret Templin finished with eight.

“Bret Templin received the academic achievement award and also played very solid for us on both ends,” Jones said. “Nate Combs had a great night rebounding and played very physical inside.”

“It was tough for Lapel to score inside as good as Nate defended,” Jones added. “Jalen Oliver gave us a huge spark off the bench and Isaiah Neal continues to play consistent on offense and rebounding.”

Hagerstown (12-7) continues its run of ranked teams on Friday as the Tigers visit No. 4 Shenandoah (16-2).
