Chicago’s Gary Peters blanked the Washington Senators on three hits as the White Sox won 6-0 in the second round of the 1964 Tournament.

The White Sox advance to the quarterfinals as they welcome the winner of the Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles affair to Chicago.

In his complete game effort, Peters (1-0) fanned a dozen and walked one as he allowed a double to John Kennedy in the first and another two-bagger in the fourth to Jim King. Don Zimmer had a pinch-hit single in the ninth.

Washington starter Bennie Daniels was perfect through the first four frames before Pete Ward broke up the no-hitter with a single leading off the fifth.

After Daniels retired Bill Skowron on a fly ball, Dave Nicholson hammered a two-run homer to give the White Sox the lead.

Daniels (0-1), who gave up five hits with a walk and a strikeout, would be gone in the sixth as he surrendered a RBI single to Ward and a run-scoring double by Skowron as Chicago built a 4-0 advantage.

Steve Ridzik finished up the sixth for the Senators, but he would later give up a two-run homer to Floyd Robinson in the eighth. Ron Kline got the final two outs in the eighth as he fanned Skowron and Nicholson.
