Patriots Win TEC Contest with Indians

LIBERTY, Ind. – The Union County boys basketball team picked up a 70-56 win over Union City in Tri-Eastern Conference action on Friday night.

Trailing 22-19 after the opening quarter, the Patriots rallied to lead 37-24 by halftime. They were on top 55-41 after three periods.

The Patriots had four players in double figures led by Derek Dearth with 17 points.

Mason Miller finished with 16 points, while Logan Sanford added 13. Preston Scott had 10.

Isaac Jefferis led Union City with 19 points and Trevor Spence tossed in 12 points.

Union County (10-12, 3-4) end its regular season at Milan next Friday.

The Indians (3-16, 1-5) were scheduled to play Southern Wells on Saturday and that game has been canceled due to the Union City girls playing in the semi-state on that afternoon.

Union City’s regular season finale is Wednesday against TEC champ Northeastern.
