Lincoln Survives Rebel Comeback

CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – The Lincoln girls basketball team was able to hang on for a 38-34 win over Randolph Southern.

“We got off to a good start and we were really good defensively early,” Lincoln coach Rob Bills said. “The kids battled hard.”

Lincoln jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Rebels were able to get on the scoreboard at the 3:35 mark of the opening period.

The Golden Eagles led 12-3 at the first stop and then 14-6 at the intermission.

In the second half, the Rebels started the road back. After trailing 24-15 at the end of the third, they cut the deficit to 37-34 with eight seconds remaining.

“We’re going to take every win we can get,” Bills said. “I was proud of my kids for hanging in there.”

Kylei Klein led the Golden Eagles with 13 points and eight rebounds. Ally Owens finished with nine points and Kerrigan Neff tossed in seven points.

Randolph Southern won the JV contest 23-14 as Maddy Mikesell led the Rebels with 12 points. Kalee Hayes tossed in 10. Rachel Merida led Lincoln with 10 points.

Lincoln (8-2) is back in action at home on Friday as the Golden Eagles entertain Union City in a Tri-Eastern Conference contest.
