Hagerstown Falls in Regional Opener

HagerstownFLORA, Ind. – Hagerstown’s baseball season came to an end on Saturday in a tight contest at the Class 1A Regional at Carroll as the Tigers fell 2-1 to Pioneer.

The Tigers, ranked No. 9 in the final poll by the coaches, finish the spring at 20-5 with a sectional title and Tri-Eastern Conference championship.

On Saturday, Sam Reagan got the start on the mound for the Tigers and worked six innings as he limited No. 2 Pioneer to just three hits with nine strikeouts.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, one of those hits was a home run in the sixth inning by Pioneer’s Tucker Waddups that proved to be the game-winner.

Both teams scored in the third frame as Reagan knocked in Hagerstown’s run with a double.

Waddups also tossed a complete game for Pioneer (24-4) giving up four hits as he fanned a dozen Tigers.

In addition to Reagan’s hit, Owen Golliher, Drew Pyle and Trey Kelley had singles for the Tigers.

The rest of the tournament was rained out on Saturday.
