RICHMOND, Ind. – Hagerstown’s boys golf team and three other individuals will represent the Tri-Eastern Conference in Friday’s Muncie Central Regional at The Players Club, which is located in Yorktown.

The Tigers finished second in the Richmond Sectional on Monday as the host Red Devils won the 12-team event at Forest Hills Country Club.

Hagerstown had a 341 with Richmond topping the field with a 331.

“I’m very pleased,” Hagerstown Head Coach Billy Mullin said. “We came in here with a game plan.”

“I’m very proud of the disciplined approach we took,” Mullin added. “It was paramount that we played well and got out.”

Mason Rader

Franklin County had a 351 to take third, which is the final place to advance to the regional as a team.

The order of the other teams were Union County 370, Tri 379, Centerville 384, Northeastern 387, Connersville 397, Rushville 404, Seton 434, Lincoln 454 and Randolph Southern 512.

“We really wanted to compete for one of the top three spots, but that just didn’t happen,” Union County Head Coach Tony Gulley said.

Individually, Richmond’s Jake Miller was the medalist with a 74. The next best score was by Franklin County’s Wyatt Rowlett with an 80.

Hagerstown’s Ben Tinkle, Centerville’s Mason Rader and Richmond’s Evan Williams tied for third as each carded an 81.

Konner Fabrick

“I thought we played very well and stuck to our conservative game plan very well,” Tinkle said.

TEC players grabbed all three qualifying positions for individuals at the regional led by Rader.

“Mason played really well,” Centerville Head Coach Roger Martin said. “He had a couple of holes that he had some miscues on. He held it together.”

This is the third straight regional for Rader.

“I hit the ball OK,” Rader said. “I scrambled a lot. My putting was really good. One hole on the back nine really killed me. I took a nine on (No. 15). Except for that, I played really well.”

Tyler Dunn

With an 84, Tri’s Konner Fabrick was the second on the list of individuals from non-advancing teams to move on to the regional.

“We started on the back nine,” Fabrick said. “I had a 46, but I made up for it on the front shooting a 38.”

“I’m honestly a little surprised,’ Fabrick added. “It’s something new to me and it’s means a lot to me to move on.”

The last individual spot was taken by Union County’s Tyler Dunn as he defeated Connersville’s Chandler Graves in a two-hole playoff, after they ended 18-holes with an 86.

“I got a little nervous,” Dunn said of finding out that he was headed back to the course.

However, the experience of winning this year’s TEC title with Union County in a playoff helped him relax on Monday.

“Because I’d been there before, (that) kind of helped,” Dunn added.

Friday’s regional is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
