College Football Playoff Field Announced

PrintThe stage is finally set for the College Football Playoff.

Saturday’s results of the conference championship games determined the field of four teams announced on Sunday that will play for the national title.

Clemson (13-0) stayed in the top spot as the Tigers won the Atlantic Coast Conference crown with a 45-37 win over North Carolina.

Alabama (12-1) maintained its position at No. 2 by beating Florida 29-15 in the Southeastern Conference title contest.

The next two rankings changed from the standings from the previous with Michigan State (12-1) moving up from fifth to third, while Big 12 winner Oklahoma (11-1) dropped from three to four without playing on Saturday.

Michigan State (12-1) won the Big 10 championship with a 16-13 win over Iowa, which fell from one spot in the poll to No. 5.

Bowl Games

The playoff games have Clemson and Oklahoma meeting in the Capital One Orange Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 31. On the same day, Alabama and Michigan State will square off in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.

The winners face each other for the national championship in Phoenix on Monday, Jan. 11.
