clemsonThe Top 5 in the College Football Playoff standings stayed the same on Tuesday as the rankings were announced.

Clemson (10-0) was announced in the top spot for the third week in a row. Alabama (9-1) is second and Ohio State (10-0) is third. Notre Dame (9-1) rounds out the four teams in the playoff positions.

“Most teams have now played 10 games, so we have a substantial body of work to discuss,” committee chairman Jeff Long said in a press release. “We are looking forward to the remaining games of the regular season, which feature a number of key head-to-head match-ups and of course, the conference championships which will become one of the factors we look at on the final weekend.”

Iowa (10-0) continues to be on the outside of the field in the fifth spot.

Clemson is at home on Saturday as the Tigers entertain Wake Forest (3-7).

“It’s been a tough stretch to have three of the last four on the road and I’m proud of our guys for how they have competed, Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney said in his weekly press conference. “To be 10-0 is something that we’re very proud of.”

“It’s not easy to do,” Swinney added. “Getting back home this week is something we’ve been looking forward to. It’s always a special time to honor our seniors. These guys are going for their 43rd win, which would make them the winningest class ever and set a new standard for the next group. It’s also the chance for our 700th win in program history, which is special.”

Also on Saturday, Alabama gets a visit from Charleston Southern (9-1), while Ohio State faces No. 9 Michigan State (9-1) in Columbus. Notre Dame and Boston College (3-7) are set to play at Fenway Park in Boston.
