Union County Stays Unbeaten in TEC

LIBERTY, Ind. –
A big third inning made the difference on Wednesday as the Union County softball team defeated Northeastern 12-2.

After a run-scoring double in the second inning of the Tri-Eastern Conference affair, Union County’s Kristin Klein highlighted the seven-run third with a grand slam to break the game open.

Tara Williams had a pair of two-run doubles with one in the second and the other in the third. She also had a solten base.

Haylee Richards and Fayth Hill both drove in a runs with a single, while Rainey Shepler, Madison Gray and Roya Walton each had a hit.

Hill went the distance on the mound for the Patriots with three strikeouts.

For the Knights, Brianna Shepherd had a double, a stolen base and a run.

Leah Hoskins knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly to give the Knights a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Kyrian Smith had a double and Kerie Brown added a single.

The Patriots (6-5, 4-0) are at Knightstown on Thursday.

Northeastern (0-5, 0-3) faces Hagerstown in the Wayne County Tournament on Saturday.
