Softball Sectional Opener Stopped by Rain

Centerville’s Grace Delay


LIBERTY, Ind. –
Mother Nature was the only winner on Monday as the opener of the Class 2A Union County Softball Sectional was stopped in the fourth inning.

After the rain started in the third inning, Centerville was leading 1-0 with one out in top of the fourth when the storm began. Winchester’s AusLynn Turpin was on first base after a walk from Centerville pitcher Shelby Koch. Brooklynn Hummel was at the plate.

The game will resume on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The entire tournament has been moved back a day.

The Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly from Grace Delay.

Delay, Koch, and Mackenzie Lanman had hits for Centerville, while Hummel had Winchester’s hit.
