Northeastern Girls Basketball Preview

NortheasternFOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Northeastern Head Girls Basketball Coach Princess Darnell begins her tenure with the Knights without a senior on the squad.

“We are a young team and only have a few players with varsity experience,” Darnell said. “I recognize that this season is a rebuilding year for us.”

“The players we do have are coachable and eager to learn,” Darnell added. “I’m looking forward to watching our development throughout the season.”

Tatum Jordan and Mikayla Hornung are the juniors on the roster.

Northeastern’s leading returning scorer is sophomore Madison Clay, who averaged 3.2 points per game last season as the Knights finished 8-16 with a 2-5 mark in the Tri-Eastern Conference.

The other sophomores on the team are Lauren York, Chaise Helton, Leah Hoskins and Kasey Andrews.

Morgan Benjamin, Alicia Hoskins, Drew Noland, Madison Short and Lena Smith are the ninth-graders on the varsity.

“Every player in our program will be gaining experience and every player will be returning next year,” Darnell said. “Our future looks bright and we have put an emphasis on building our feeder program.”

The Knights begin their season at home against Knightstown on Friday, Nov. 6. Northeastern’s first TEC contest is at Union City on Saturday, Nov. 14.
