Heisman Hopefuls for 2015

Through the first five weeks of the college football season Press Room Pass has selected the top three contenders for the Heisman Trophy.

As of now, quarterback Trevone Boykin of TCU is the leading candidate. The Horned Frogs are 5-0 after beating 50-7 beating of Texas (1-4).

Boykin threw for 332 yards and five touchdowns against the Longhorns. This season, he has 1,802 passing yards with 19 touchdowns. On the ground he’s gained 242 yards with a pair of scores.

The next two candidates are both running backs. Leonard Fournette of LSU and Ezekiel Elliott of Ohio State are close behind Boykin.

Fournette gained 233 yards for the Tigers (4-0) in a 44-22 victory over Eastern Michigan (1-4). In four games, he’s gained 864 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.

Elliott is producing solid numbers as the Buckeyes continue to win as they defend their national championship from a season ago.

In Ohio State’s 34-27 win at Indiana, he had 274 yards rushing with three touchdowns. His totals for the season are 729 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s also caught 10 passes for 63 yards.
