Centerville Takes TEC Tennis Title

tec wall at union coCAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – The Centerville boys tennis team won three title on Monday as the Bulldogs claimed their 24th Tri-Eastern Conference championship.

Winning the TEC Tournament with 56 points, the Bulldogs swept the finals in doubles and picked up a title in singles.

Lincoln was second in the tourney with 34 points followed by Hagerstown 25, Winchester 24, Tri 3, Union City 3, Northeastern and Union County didn’t score.

Skyler Benedict had Centerville’s win in singles as he defeated Lincoln’s Seth Morris 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2.

In doubles, Centerville’s Blake Shook and Josh Duke beat Hagerstown’s Evan Hoover and Noah Dale 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1. In the second spot, Nathan Cheek and Bennett Walther outlasted Hagerstown’s Caleb Neal and Luke Girdley 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-3.

Lincoln’s individual champ was at No. 1 singles as Seth Martin posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over Centerville’s Nolan Witte.

Winchester’s Mason Melton defeated Lincoln’s Austin Lanich 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 to win the championship in the third singles position.
