Union County Wins Invitational at Northeastern

Union CountyFOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – The Union County baseball team won a pair of games on Saturday to claim the Northeastern Invitational title.

The Patriots won 5-4 over Northeastern to win the championship after beating Mississinewa 10-4.

Mook Shepler, Preston Scott and Leighton Schulte had two hits each for the Patriots against the Knights. Shepler knocked in two runs.

Austin Kenworthy, Mason Fisher, Garrett Dill, and Dylan Baker all had two hits each for the Knights. Fisher tripled, while Dill had a home run.

Shepler and Justin Witter had two hits for the Patriots in their opener. Shepler had four strikeouts in four innings on the mound to earn the victory.

Northeastern had also won 9-0 over Mississinawa Valley (Ohio) earlier in the day.

Against Mississinawa Valley, Kenworthy had two hits with two RBI. Fisher added a triple. Bailey Stewart picked up the win on the mound.
