Editor’s note: The games in the Negro Leagues Diamond Gems Tournament are being played with Strat-o-Matic cards and dice. The designated hitter will not be used for any games. Injuries will only be used during the game when they occur.
With the Strat-o-Matic Game Company’s release of the Negro Leagues Diamond Gems B Set, eight more teams were added being the total to 16 Negro League squads that feature several National Baseball Hall of Fame members including Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson and Cool Papa Bell along with recent inductee Buck O’Neil.
There are also some great names like Gunboat Thompson, Deerfoot Moore (Eugene Moore) and Needle Nose Wright. Johnny Wright was a teammate of Jackie Robinson‘s with the 1946 Montreal Royals.
For the second straight year, Press Room Pass will be playing an single elimination Negro Leagues Diamond Gems Tournament. The 1945 Cleveland Buckeyes won the tournament last year, so the winner of this event will challenge Buckeyes for an overall title.
