FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. –
The Winchester girls basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Class 2A Northeastern Sectional as the fourth-ranked Golden Falcons defeated Centerville 79-28.

“Early on in the first six games of our season, I thought we were playing probably the best we could play,” Winchester Head Coach Holly Gutierrez said. “After that, we were still OK, but we weren’t playing to our potential.”

“Tonight, the first half we were back to our game,” she continued. “I’ve been waiting and hoping that would come back.”

Winchester led 28-3 after the first quarter and 53-10 at the intermission.

“At halftime, we talked about not looking at the scoreboard,” Gutierrez said. “We talked about things we needed to fix. We were throwing the ball away.”
