CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Earlham College graduate Matt Brankle was announced as the new Lincoln baseball coach on Tuesday.

“I appreciate Lincoln for giving me the opportunity,” said Brankle, who played for the Quakers from 2012-2015. “I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for me to help grow a program as well as grow personally as a coach.”

Lincoln Athletic Director Rob Bills was pleased with the selection.

“We are excited Matt Brankle accepted our baseball position,” Bills said. “Matt has obviously been a part of a winning program at Earlham College and I believe his experiences will guide him as we move forward with Lincoln baseball.”

“Coach Brankle has indicated his commitment to reaching out to our youth program and we both believe that is the foundation of a strong program,” Bills added.

While in college, the right-hander pitched for the Richmond RiverRats in the Prospect League.

After finishing his career with the Quakers, Brankle pitched professionally for the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League in 2015. A year later, he was the manager for the Richmond Jazz.

A graduate of Taylor High School near Kokomo, Brankle was an assistant coach at Eaton High School last season.
