Laymon Named Lincoln Girls Basketball Coach

CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – A familiar face will be the new leader of the Lincoln girls basketball program when the season begins in November.

Lincoln Athletic Director Rob Bills announced on Tuesday that Garry Laymon will be the seventh head coach in school history.

“We are very lucky to have Garry Laymon step up and direct our Lady Eagle girls basketball program,” said Bills, who has been the team’s head coach over the last three seasons. “Coach Laymon is an outstanding X and O coach and has been instrumental in the success in our program over the last two seasons.”

“Coach Laymon is a detail oriented coach who is outstanding in developing the fundamental skills of his players and the entire program from elementary to high school,” Bills continued. “Garry is well known to our players and our community serving as both volleyball and basketball JV coach the last couple of years and serving as athletic director at Lincoln High School from 1999-2005.”

The Golden Eagles were 19-4 last season, while posting a 14-11 mark and winning the sectional title two years ago.

“I am very excited to be named the head coach in a program that has a rich and storied history,” Laymon said. ” Coach Bills did a wonderful job the last three years and that will help make a smooth transition.”

Lincoln has won four sectional titles and 12 Tri-Eastern Conference championships.
