Stamper Awarded Scholarship from IBCA

Matt Stamper

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association has awarded a Marion Crawley Scholarship Award to Centerville’s Matt Stamper.

“Matt is an exceptional role model for our younger students and players as can be seen through his excellent treatment of all students, teammates, and community members,” Centerville Head Coach Seve Beach said. “One way I could describe him would be that he lives by the adage ‘promise only what you can deliver, then deliver more than you promise.’ It is a great honor for Matt to be a Marion Crawley scholarship award winner.”

“I can’t begin to describe how proud I am of him,” Beach continued. “He has an incredible future ahead of him. I will always consider Matt family. I have been incredibly blessed to coach him for the past two years.”

The son of Dale and Kim, Stamper averaged 11.7 points per game for the Bulldogs as a senior.

“I didn’t know much about the scholarship until Coach Beach told me I won it,” said Stamper, who is headed to Indiana University next fall. “I didn’t know much about Marion Crawley, so that night I went home and looked him up.”

Crawley, who won four state titles, was the first executive director of the IBCA.

“I found out what a great coach he was and how special of a scholarship this was,” Stamper said. “I’m thankful for everything Coach Beach has done for me in just the two short years I’ve known him.”

The IBCA awards 42 scholarships annually to student-athletes, managers, trainers and cheerleaders.
