UNION CITY, Ind. – Winchester’s track teams had the top finish among the Tri-Eastern Conference on Wednesday in the Randolph County Meet at Union City.
The Winchester boys were second, while the girls squad finished third. Union City’s boys finished third and the girls were fourth.
Monroe Central won the boys event with the Randolph Southern girls also winning.
Five individuals from the TEC won titles with four claiming a pair of events.
On the boys side, Winchester’s John Thornburg won the shot put (41’0¼”) and the discus (114’4½”). Camden Abernathy took the 1,600 (4:46.3) and 3,200 (10.22.1).
Union City’s Trevor Thompson won the 800 (2:08.7) and the high jump (5’10”). Allen Gonzalez, Rawlin Mills, Zach Adkins and Thompson won the 1,600 relay (3:46.2) for the Indians.
For the girls, Winchester’s Maddie Lawrence won the shot put (33’10”) and set a new meet record to win the discus (121’2″), while teammate Emma Hartzell won the 100 hurdles (17.74).
