Six TEC Wrestlers Headed to Semi-State

Six wrestlers from the Tri-Eastern Conference are headed to the semi-state round on Saturday.

Four will compete in New Castle, while the other two are going to Ft. Wayne.

Centerville has three in the field at New Castle.

A.J. Taylor (30-8) was second in the Richmond Regional and faces Sunny Nier (31-5) of Perry Meridan at 120.

After a third place finish last weekend at 132, Elijah Phillips (40-4) gets Azariah Ellis (27-10) of Zionsville.

The final wrestler for the Bulldogs is Tyler Vredeveld (37-8), who was fourth in the regional at 106. He squares off with Logan Bailey (30-3) of Indianapolis Cathedral.

Union County’s Tucker Coffman (38-8) was second at 152 in the regional as he prepares to meet Cody Kleitheimer (30-3) of Frankton.

With fourth-place finishes at the Jay County Regional, Rawlin Mills of Union City and Logan Shaffer of Winchester are competing in Ft. Wayne.

Mills (24-18) goes up against Joey Blakeley (43-3) of Prairie Heights at 182.

Shaffer (31-10) tangles with Jessie Lawson (38-3) of Carroll at 285.

The top four wrestlers in each class advance to the state finals at Bankers Life in Indianapolis on Feb. 17-18.
