RICHMOND, Ind. – Centerville’s swimming teams split a meet with Richmond on Wednesday night at Tiano Pool.
Richmond held on to win the boys meet 97-87, while the Centerville girls edged the Red Devils 96-90 with a victory in the final event of the evening.
“We have strong relays and that works to our advantage,” Centerville coach Darren Ridenour said. “The scoring system that we use weighs heavily on the winner. That was really the difference in the meet.”
Baylee Fry, Sophia Neher, Sydney Whiteley and Aubrey Davis won the girls 400-yard Freestyle Relay for the Bulldogs with a time of 4:03.92.
“We knew it was going to be real close,” Ridenour said. “We were happy to be in there and have a chance at the end. Richmond was swimming great and we knew we had to swim our best.”
Centerville’s girls winners were Davis (200 freestyle), Tory Cruse (50 freestyle), Maddy Strain (diving), Sydney Whiteley (100 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Fry, Grace Whiteley, Cruse, Sydney Whiteley.
The Centerville winners for the boys were Nico Wankerl (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke), Parker Neher (100 backstroke) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Neher, Aydan Koyles, John Neely and Wankerl.
