Indians Defeat Bulldogs

UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team defeated Tri-Eastern Conference foe Centerville 68-42 on Wednesday night.

Courtney Wise led the Indians with 23 points and four blocks, while Baylee Hartman added 13 points and reached a career milestone.

With seven rebounds, Hartman has 678 in her career as she became the all-time rebound leader for Union City by surpassing the record previously held by Raelynn Mills.

Kelsey Zimmers finished with 11 points and Justiss Cantu contributed 10 points, seven assists and nine steals. Kora Kerns added eight steals.

The contest was close in the first half as the Indians led 14-13 at the first stop and then 30-26 by halftime. Union City built a 48-36 advantage by the end of the third quarter.

Mackenzie Tipton and Kailee Tedder led the Bulldogs with 11 points each, while Morgan Guenther tossed in nine.

The Indians won the JV game 27-18. Mackenzie Green led Union City with nine points and six steals, while Sophia Spence had 12 rebounds and six points.

Union City (7-1, 3-0) entertains Randolph Southern on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (2-8, 0-3) face Hagerstown at home next Friday, Dec. 16.
