Hagerstown’s Volleyball Season Ends

HagerstownGREENSBURG, Ind. – Hagerstown’s most successful volleyball season came to an end on Saturday as the Tigers fell to Evansville Mater Dei 16-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-19, 15-13 in the opening round the Class 2A semi-state at North Decatur.

Regan Tinkle led the second-ranked Tigers (35-2) with 14 kills and four blocks against the No. 13 Wildcats (26-13).

Jessica Swimm finished with a dozen kills. Brytni Dale added eight kills and Lanie McClanahan contributed seven.

Beth Jenkins had 19 assists, while Hannah Rogers added 18.

Victoria Pierson had 32 digs for the Tigers with Dale finishing with 29. Rogers had 25 and Lacee Dale had 23.

No 4. Covenant Christian (33-5) earned the trip to the state title contest against top-ranked Wapahani (31-6) next Saturday at Ball State University.

Covenant Christian beat Mater Dei 17-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-13, 15-7 for the semi-state championship.

In the first match of the day, Covenant Christian defeated Paoli (24-13) 25-13, 25-13, 25-20.
