Hagerstown Competes in Ohio Meet

HagerstownBROOKVILLE, Ohio – The Hagerstown cross country teams competed at the 52nd Annual Brookville Invitational.

The boys won the Large School event, while the girls were fourth in the Small School division.

“I asked the boys early in the year if they wanted to declare up at Brookville and run in the Large School Race,” Hagerstown Head Coach Kent Gray said. “They wanted the challenge, and I was glad we did so as the field was stronger than in the Small School Race. Times weren’t great with the humidity and somewhat slow course, but I was pleased with our effort and final result.”

Hagerstown won the Small School race a year ago at Brookville and won its third consecutive invitational of 2016 after taking titles at Rushville and Marion earlier this season.

Mason Bledsoe led the boys team on Saturday as he finished second out of 122 runners.

Alec Hicks finished fourth, Logan Tuttle seventh, Jevon Osborne eighth, and Kaleb Slagle 13th.

Michael Bane was 28th and Dylan Napier was 30th.

The Hagerstown girls were led by Logan McRoberts, who finished fifth. Anna Shafer was next in tenth place.

The other Tigers competing were Maci Matanich in 24th, Teresa Rojas 31st, Madison Brown 36th, Madison Zetzl 37th and Hannah Lach 47th.

The Tigers return to action next Saturday at the Jim Leffler Yorktown Invitational.
