Union County Wins with Big Second Half

Union CountyLIBERTY, Ind. – The Union County football team broke open a close contest in the second half on Friday as the Patriots defeated Union City 50-12 in the Tri-Eastern Conference affair.

The Patriots scored 32 unanswered points in the second half as they extended what was just an 18-12 halftime advantage.

Union County quarterback Caleb Greene ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw for another as he led Patriots offense.

The Patriots also had rushing touchdowns from Aaron Daggy, Isaac Bentley, Tucker Coffman and Ryan Hensley. Hensley picked up a second score on a 5-yard pass from Greene.

Bentley led the Patriots with 55 yards on the ground, while Daggy contributed 52.

Greene had 49 yards rushing as he completed 6-of-10 passes for 59. Cameron Donovan had five catches for 5-54 yards.

Defensively, the Patriots also added to the scoring as Drew Cole picked up a fumble and went 10-yards for a touchdown. Coffman topped the squad with seven tackles.

Union City picked up both of its touchdowns in the second quarter. Kayled Leedom scored on a 10-yard run, while Trevor Thompson added a 9-yard run

Cameron Vincent led the Indians with 39 yards rushing. Leedom finished with 28 yards and Thompson added 27.

Thompson led the Union City defense with 10 tackles.

Union County (2-0, 1-0) visits Winchester next Friday, while Union City (1-2, 0-2) entertains Monroe Central.
