Tigers and Bulldogs Reach Girls Tennis Finale

CentervilleRICHMOND, Ind. – A pair of Tri-Eastern Conference girls tennis teams will battle for the Richmond Sectional title on Friday after Hagerstown and Centerville posted wins on Thursday.

Hagerstown defeated Northeastern 5-0, while Centerville’s 3-2 win over the host Red Devils was decided at No. 2 Doubles.

The Centerville duo of Addie Walther and Morgan Guenther bounced back after falling in the second set to come out on top 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 over Anna Creech and Marissa Wigginton.

The Bulldogs also got two wins in singles. Shelby Good defeated Rina Takahara 6-3, 6-3 in the second spot and Chloe Uphaus beat Kayla Owens 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

Richmond’s victories came in both No. 1 positions. In singles, Cami Jones won over Abby Stewart 6-0, 6-1. Emma Lady and Maia Van Buskirk defeated Robyn Raatz and Kendall Horner 6-0, 6-0 in doubles.

Tiger Sweep

HagerstownIn singles for the Tigers, Savannah Houck defeated Adrianne Ullery 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Kayla McFarland outlasted Dayna Newman 7-6 (7-2), 1-6, 6-0 at No. 2. Jacqueline Habzansky posted a win over Jasmine Thorne 6-0, 6-0.

Mekayla Todd and McKenzie Fleming won 6-1, 7-5 over Ashley Jay and Autumn Lawhorn. At No. 2, Kayla Vinson and Abby Shepherd defeated Kasey Andrews and Emily Fouche 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1).
