CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – Hagerstown had the top finish among the Tri-Eastern Conference boys track teams on Thursday as the Tigers were second in the Connersville Sectional.

“We had some places where we performed very well and others where we didn’t,” Hagerstown Head Coach Kent Gray said. “Overall, the kids had a great year.”

Rushville won the event with 160 points, while Hagerstown ended with 96.

Connersville was third with 84 and Union County was fourth with 76. The other team scores were Richmond 61, Northeastern 37, Seton 30, Lincoln 25, Centerville 24 and Tri 21.

The Tigers won two events and had four other qualifiers for next Thursday’s regional at Franklin.

The top three finishers in each event advance to the regional.

Hagerstown’s 3,200 Relay team of Alec Hicks, Javon Osborne, Kaleb Slagle and Logan Tuttle set a new standard for the program as they won with a time of 8:23.66, which topped their mark of 8:25.67 during the TEC Meet last week.

“That was kind of a highlight of the night,” Gray said. “We broke our own school record again. We’ll go and try to set another record (next week) and maybe get a ribbon.”

Dakota Roach was Hagerstown’s individual champion with a throw of 136’8″ as he won the Discus.

The TEC had two other champs with Northeastern’s Dakota Green taking the Shot Put with a toss of 48’11” and Grant Jessup winning the 400 in 53.45.

Heading to the Regional

Mason Bledsoe of Hagerstown advanced in two events as he was second in the 1,600 and 3,200. The others to move on for the Tigers were Keeton Adams, who was second in the Shot Put, and Holden Robinson, who was third in the 300 Hurdles.

Union County had three individuals advance along with all three of the relay squads.

Advancing with second place finishes were Ryan Hensley in the High Jump, Justin Beasley in the 110 Hurdles and Breyden Wicker in the 800. Isaac Bentley was third in the 100.

In the relays, the Patriots were second in the 1,600 (Joshua Nixon, Luke Haas, Hensley, Dakota Elleman) and third in the 400 (Beasley, Hensley, Derek Dearth, Bentley) and 3,200 (Evan Couser, Dylan Poe, Elleman and Wicker).

Centerville, Northeastern and Lincoln each had one athlete move on.

Seth Woolwine of Centerville was second in the Discus and third in the Shot Put.

Northeastern’s Gabe Beatty was third in the 1,600, while Lincoln’s Bryant Hilbert was third in the 110 Hurdles.
