HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – As rain fell at the end of the Tri-Eastern Conference boys track meet on Thursday, the championship was still in doubt as the Hagerstown and Union County teams waited for the high jump to finish.

“Every point does matter,” Hagerstown Head Coach Kent Gray said after the Tigers outlasted the Patriots to win their second straight title.

Hagerstown finished with 152.5 points, while Union County had 148.5.

“They were exceptional,” Gray said of Union County. “I felt like we had a good meet and had some real good performances.”

“It took everything we had to edge past them,” Gray added. “That’s what we have come to expect from this meet.”

Winchester was third with 64 points. The other teams in order were Lincoln 58, Centerville 48, Northeastern 43, Union City 42 and Tri 29.

Mason Bledsoe was a double-winner for the Tigers as he took the 1,600 (4:32.23) and the 3,200 (10:05.04).

“The cliche thing to say is that it means a lot to us, but we’ve put in a lot of work,” Bledsoe said.  “We’re just happy to have won.”

The Tigers started the night with a TEC record in the 3,200 Relay as Alec Hicks, Javon Osborne, Kaleb Slagle, Logan Tuttle posted a time of 8:25.67. The old mark of 8:30.32 was set by Union City in 2001.

Hagerstown’s other champs were Keeton Adams in the Shot Put (47’9′), Dakota Roach in the Discus (145’7″) and Holden Robinson in the 300 Hurdles (43.13).

For Union County, Isaac Bentley led the way with a pair of wins as he took the Long Jump (19’6″) and the 200 (23.37). Breyden Wicker captured the 800 (2:01.97) ;

The Patriots finished the track portion of the event with Joshua Nixon, Luke Haas, Ryan Hensley and Dakota Elleman winning the 1,600 Relay (3:37.1) to pull within reach of the title before the High Jump finished.

Kiante Enis of Winchester won the High Jump (5’10”) after winning the 100 (11.03).

Lincoln and Tri each had one champion.

Bryant Hilbert of Lincoln won the 110 Hurdles (16.87) and Grant Jessup of Tri won the 400 (52.75).
