HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – History continues to repeat itself at the Tiger Booster Invitational as the Hagerstown track teams added to their winning streaks on Friday night at Cory Field.

For the girls, it’s eight wins in a row. The boys are at three straight. In the combined, the Tigers have won seven consecutive titles.

The outcome of the girls event wasn’t officially decided until the 1,600-meter relay, which was the final race of the night.

Hagerstown had 139 points, Centerville 128 and Knightstown 123. The other steams scores were Blue River 68, Lincoln 38, Tri 26, Shenandoah 25 and Northeastern 19.

“I had girls step up in all four field events and place,” said Hagerstown Head Coach Karen Matanich of her team’s response in the close finish. “We couldn’t back down, every time we would gain a point, somebody else would take two from us.”

On the boys side, Hagerstown had 171 with Knightstown finishing second with 131, while Shenandoah was third with 60.

The other totals were Northeastern 57, Lincoln 55, Centerville 44, Tri 33 and Blue River 31.

Hagerstown’s boys finished on top in eight events as the Tigers set a record in the 3,200 Relay to begin the meet.

“We knew Knightstown was going to be very competitive,” Hagerstown Head Coach Kent Gray said. “I was very pleased with our performance. We had a lot of good times and a lot of good distances. We had a really good meet.”

Alec Hicks, Jevon Osborne, Kaleb Slagle and Logan Tuttle combined for a time of 8:31.10 to break the mark set in 1996 by Hagerstown.

“It’s always to win that one and its a good group of kids,” Gray said.

The team of Loren Litton, Jeff Hill, Heath Salit and Chris Collins posted the old standard 20 years ago of 8:32.59.

Mason Bledsoe was a double-winner for the Tigers as he took the 1,600 (4:37.27) and 3,200 (10:17.87).

The other winners for the Tigers were Hicks in the 800 (2:03.61), Keeton Adams in the Shot Put (48’3 1/2″), Dakota Roach in the Discus (146’1″) and Holden Robinson in the 300 Hurdles (43.09).

The Tigers capped off the night with a win in the 1,600 relay from Michael Bane, Dylan Napier, Hicks and Robinson in 3:41.92.

Hagerstown’s girls won four events.

Aimee Hoodlebrink was first in the Long Jump (15’10 1/2″) and 100 (13.32).

Shelly Shafer won the Shot Put (33’3″).

The Tigers also won the 400 Relay with Kaylani Dale, Madeline Henley, Beth Jenkins and Hoodlebrink completing the race in 53.86.

Centerville’s Ashley Toschlog was the top performer in the meet for the girls and Knightstown’s Jackson Edwards earned the honor for the boys.

“I am really pleased,” Toschlog said. “I feel great. I feel like I put all of my effort out there. I want to just run my races and just get PRs.”

Toschlog claimed the 800 (2:33.97), 1,600 (5:49.35) and 3,200 (12:36.92) as an individual after leading off the 3,200 Relay squad’s victory in 11:01.35. The other members of the relay team were Anna Hawk, Madilyne Coomes and Kayla Newman.

With 32.5 points, Toschlog is the first Centerville girl to have the highest total in the meet since Courtney Barnett scored 33 in 2008.

Other Winners

Centerville’s Jolie Rusznak won the 300 Hurdles (53.27), while Lincoln’s boys and girls had one winner each.

Bryant Hilbert won the 110 Hurdles (16.55), while Heidi Gabbard won the Discus (94’10”).

Centerville, Hagerstown, Lincoln, Northeastern and Tri along with Union City, Union County and Winchester will be compete in the Tri-Eastern Conference Meet at Cory Field on Thursday.
