Phillips Commits to Manchester

Centerville wrestling coach Mike Day talks to the crowd as Elijah Phillips prepares to sign his letter of intent to Manchester.

CENTERVILLE, Ind. –
Centerville wrestler Elijah Phillips announced his intention to attend Manchester University on Thursday night.

Phillips will join his brother JaVon at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference school where he is a sophomore for the Spartans.

“That’s part of the reason,” Elijah said. “I visited Manchester several times.”

“They really have a great energy that I want to be a part of,” he continued. “It feels like a second home.”

Elijah, who is the son of Brian and Scheleta, is currently fourth on the all-time win list for the Bulldogs at 131-21 as he competes in the 132-pound class this season.

“I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season,” Elijah said.

Elijah is planning on studying business or marketing and possibly music at Manchester.

In addition to JaVon, Elijah has four other siblings, Gabe, O’Shea, Tzuri and Tziyon. Gabe is a freshmen wrestler for the Bulldogs this season.
