WINCHESTER, Ind. – Dustin Baldwin has returned to Winchester.
The 2005 graduate is entering his first year in charge of the Winchester boys basketball program.
“We’re very excited about the season,” said Baldwin, who coached at Union City from 2012-2016. “We have a good group of guys. We have 30 kids out for the program and that’s very exciting for us to see the interest from the kids.”
The Golden Falcons have seven seniors on the roster.
“We will be very balanced,” Baldwin said. “We have some size and some length. We are going to look to get after it. We’re not going to sit back in the half-court very often.”
Senior Boo Enis is the top scorer returning at 11 PPG, while classmate Isaiah Jordan-Miller tossed in 10 PPG for last year’s 11-11 squad.
“We’ve got a big group of seniors and a good group of younger guys that have some talent,” Baldwin said.
The other seniors are Lukas Mills, Jordan Key, Trey Graft, Justin McCallister and Josh Lowe. The remaining players are sophomores Levi Slusher, Ross Culy and Nathaniel Dunica.
“We can go a lot deeper and not lose much,” Baldwin said. “We have a really good JV squad that’s going to push our guys.”
“It’s going to take a while to get into it,” Baldwin added. “Ultimately our goal is to be ready in March. We have plenty of time to keep learning.”
Winchester starts the season on Friday at home against Randolph Southern.
The Golden Falcons open their Tri-Eastern Conference slate with Union City at the Winchester Fieldhouse on Friday, Dec. 8.
