McClanahan Signs with Huntington

Hagerstown’s Lanie McClanahan signed with Huntington University to play volleyball on Nov. 21.

HAGERSTOWN, Ind. –
Lanie McClanahan signed on the dotted line on Tuesday to continue her volleyball career at Huntington University.

“I’m super excited,” said McClanahan, who is the daughter of Brian and Valerie Huffman. “I would not want to go anywhere else. I’m so happy that I get to under Coach Kyle (Shondell).”

“I went up there for a nursing weekend,” she added. “I was with the teachers and I really liked it there. I felt like it would actually make me a good nurse.”

McClanahan helped Hagerstown to a 33-2 mark this season as she led the team with 78 aces.

Hagerstown Head Coach Brian Dale was pleased to have a player advance the next level.

“I am very proud of her and that she will continue to play volleyball at the collegiate level,” Dale said. “She is a fierce competitor and she was a huge asset to our team and program.”

The All-Tri-Eastern Conference performer was second on the team in digs with 252, while finishing third with 241 kills.

“She made the ultimate sacrifice her junior year due to her decision to transfer to Hagerstown,” Dale said. “Due to this decision, she had to sit and watch her teammates play the sport that she loved.”

“She was the ultimate teammate every day in practice,” Dale continued. “She helped everyone on the team become a better player and thus making us a better team as well. I have enjoyed coaching her over the last 2 years and she was a major factor in our program’s success. I look forward to watching her play at the next level.”

Huntington is a NAIA school that competes in the Crossroads League.
